The ASEAN Para Games, is a biannual multi-sport event for athletes with physical disabilities in Southeast Asia. The 2022 ASEAN Para Games officially known as the 11th ASEAN Para Games, also known as Surakarta 2022 (or Solo 2022) held from July 30 to August 6, 2022 in Surakarta, Indonesia, was participated by all 11 countries in the region.
A 25-year old true blue Bataeño born and raised in Naparing, Dinalupihan won the Silver Medal in Table Tennis, Class 9 Category in the recently concluded 2022 ASEAN Para Games.
Andrew Kevin Bauyon Arandia, or Drew to family and friends started playing table tennis since grade school ago mainly through the influence of his father. Born club footed, he underwent surgery hence his disability is not noticeable especially when he is wearing shoes and long pants.
He used to represent Bataan in CLARAA since grade school and became a varsity player of his alma mater, BPSU. He has been a member of the national team for three years now yet he remains grateful to the Orani Table Tennis Club for the training he got from them since high school especially his coach, Rosemarie Santos and trainer Jessie De Sosa.
An employee of the DPWH, Drew draws much inspiration from his family and if God permits, wants to bring more honor to his fellow Bataeños and Filipinos as well and be an inspiration especially to the differently-abled.
Congratulations, Drew! Keep it up! We, your fellow Bataeños are truly proud of you!
